“The Holy Spirit is a person to be followed, not a power to be used.”
1. The Holy Spirit Has A Mind
Romans 8:26-27 – “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the MIND of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.”
2. The Holy Spirit Has Emotions
Ephesians 4:30 – “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. ”
3. The Holy Spirit Has A Will
1 Corinthians 12:11 – “All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.”
“The degree to which you experience His filling is fully dependent on the depth of your relationship with Him.”
To develop a relationship with the Holy Spirit, you need to… Quiet The Noise
After quieting the noise in your life, you have to… Tune In and Listen
-How do we tune into the Holy Spirit’s voice each day? The first way is through… Scripture
For it is through the Word that God reveals Himself. This is not a dead book between the covers; this is a living book. God wrote it and it is still alive. This book is still alive; it is a living, vibrant book. God is in this book. The Holy Spirit is in this book. And if you want to find Him go into the book. – A.W. Tozer
The next way to tune into the Spirit is through… Prayer
The third way to tune into the Spirit is through… People
The last way to tune into the Spirit is through... Repentance
Finally, if you want to cultivate a deep relationship with the Holy Spirit, not only do you need to quiet the noise, tune in and listen, but you have to… Move
Galatians 5:25 – “If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.”
“Honor Christ and the Holy Spirit will honor you. Always remember that you will know the Spirit more intimately as you make more of Jesus Christ the Lord.” – A.W. Tozer
Consider closing your group time in quiet prayer. Maybe listen to some worship music and just let the Holy Spirit speak to your hearts.
