Isaiah 55:10-11 - “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth…”

“God by His very nature acts through speaking.” He goes on to say this; When the Bible talks of God’s Word, then, it is talking of “God’s active presence in the world.”     – Tim Keller

Psalm 33:9 – “For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.”

Proverbs 4:11-12 – “I have taught you the way of wisdom; I have led you in the paths of uprightness. When you walk, your step will not be hampered, and if you run, you will not stumble.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 – “Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him…”

Deuteronomy 32:47 – “For it is no empty word for you, but your very life…”

1 Thessalonians 4:8 – “Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God…”

1 Thessalonians 2:13 – “And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.”

1 Thessalonians 1:8 – “For not only has the word of the Lord sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere, so that we need not say anything.”

2 Corinthians 5:19-20 (The MSG) – “God has given us the task of telling everyone what he is doing. We’re Christ’s representatives. God uses us to persuade men and women to drop their differences and enter into God’s work of making things right between them. We’re speaking for Christ himself now: Become friends with God; he’s already a friend with you.”

Romans 2:3-4 – “Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?”

Psalm 139:13-14 – “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

Jeremiah 29:12-13 – “Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”

Psalm 34:18 – “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”

Psalm 145:18 – “The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.”

Romans 10:13 – “For “’everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’”

Group Questions:

Do you have a favorite part of the Bible? If so, what part would that be?

Read Isaiah 55:10-11

Q2: Isaiah is telling us that God’s words are living water and they are bread for life. Do you find the Bible refreshing and renewing? If so, in what ways?

Read Proverbs 3:5-6

Q3: How do you experience God directing your path? Are there ever times when you are reluctant to follow where he is directing? Explain your thoughts.

Read 1 Thessalonians 2:13

Q4: Do you think we sometimes forget that the Bible is not the “words of men but the words of God?” Share your experiences.

Q5: The purpose of revival is not just for us but the lost. Paul said in his message, “When loves breaks in, then loves breaks through.” How have you seen this to be true in your life?

Take time to pray together before you dismiss. Is there someone in your life who needs to hear the living, nourishing words of God? How can your group pray for you as you seek to be a “blessing” to them?
